We’re supporting an urgent defence and space programme and are looking for an experienced Senior Spacecraft Systems Engineer – Subsystems to join the team on a contract basis.

This is an immediate requirement supporting high-profile national security space programmes, working alongside government and industry partners.

Due to programme security requirements, this position is 100% onsite at Los Angeles Air Force Base.

The Role

You’ll provide technical leadership across spacecraft bus and subsystem activities, supporting the coordination, integration and oversight of complex space systems throughout their lifecycle.

Working closely with government customers, prime contractors and suppliers, you’ll act as a technical expert, ensuring subsystem development, integration and programme execution are successfully delivered.

Required Experience

• Active Secret Security Clearance (TS/SCI or eligibility to obtain is advantageous)
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Software Engineering, Computer Science or another technical discipline
• 15+ years of experience with spacecraft bus or spacecraft subsystems (or 12+ years with a relevant Master’s degree)
• Strong experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to perform effectively in high-visibility, fast-paced programme environments
• Ability to work onsite full-time at Los Angeles Air Force Base

Desirable Experience

• Experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community space programmes
• Space systems engineering experience at the unit, subsystem, spacecraft or space vehicle level
• Active TS/SCI clearance or eligibility to obtain one

Additional Information

• 100% onsite at Los Angeles Air Force Base (LAAFB)
• Approximately 10% travel within Southern California and across CONUS, depending on supplier and programme activities
