Structural Dynamics Engineer (Acoustic Testing)
Location: United States (remote with some travel)

We are partnering with a pioneering provider of equipment and services for Direct Field Acoustic Testing in the space industry. This company has qualified over 200 satellites using DFAT technology and offers premium solutions for acoustic testing.

This position has come around as their Lead Engineer is due to retire in the next two years and they are looking for someone to work alongside them, gain their knowledge and expertise and progress into their role.

This is a fantastic opportunity not to only work on some of the most interesting projects but also to work and learn off one of the leading experts in their field.

Your Role:
– Conduct and execute acoustic tests, creating and reviewing test specifications and reports.
– Perform direct field acoustic testing and support Direct Field Acoustic Test projects for clients.

Responsibilities:
– Create, review, conduct, and report on acoustic and vibration engineering experiments.
– Participate in Technical Readiness Review (TRR) meetings with clients to review, approve, and submit plans for Direct Field Acoustic Tests.
– Create and present PowerPoint presentations on Direct Field Acoustic Testing to current and prospective clients in various settings.
– Compile and maintain information on Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) facilities across the USA.
– Read and interpret CAD designs of room geometries to determine the optimal fit and placement of DFAT Noise Generation Speaker Systems and Test Articles.
– Read and interpret electrical schematics for wiring DFAT systems to amplifiers and external generator systems.

Required Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field such as mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or acoustics.
– Proficiency in Acoustic, Vibration, NVH, and Structural Dynamics Test Engineering.
– Ability to create, review, conduct, and report on acoustic and vibration engineering experiments.
– Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks and AutoCAD), Vibroacoustic Simulation and Pre-Test Analysis Software (Simcenter 3D, Wave6, VAOne), and Data Acquisition and Analysis Software (Simcenter Testlab and SCADAS, Spectral Dynamics Jaguar).
– Ability to read and interpret CAD designs and electrical schematics.
– Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
– Experience in the space industry or a related field is a plus.
