About the Opportunity

We are partnering with an innovative aerospace company developing advanced spacecraft systems for next-generation space missions. As a Principal Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT) Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across spacecraft integration and verification activities, with a strong focus on the development and deployment of Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE).

Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will lead integration and test campaigns from early system development through qualification, launch preparation, and mission support. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced AIT engineer looking to play a key role in delivering complex spacecraft systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the definition, design, development, and ongoing support of Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) for spacecraft integration and testing.

  • Define verification strategies and collaborate with Systems Engineering to develop test plans and requirements verification matrices.

  • Support programme planning by contributing to Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT) schedules and campaign planning.

  • Validate electrical interfaces between flight hardware and ground support equipment.

  • Lead spacecraft assembly, integration, and verification activities throughout the development lifecycle.

  • Develop, author, and execute qualification and acceptance test procedures.

  • Lead environmental and functional test campaigns, including:

    • Vibration

    • Acoustic

    • Shock

    • Thermal Vacuum (TVAC)

    • EMI/EMC

    • RF Testing

    • Ground Compatibility Testing

    • Day-in-the-Life (DITL) Testing

  • Lead anomaly investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.

  • Troubleshoot electrical and system-level integration issues during spacecraft assembly and testing.

  • Lead integration readiness reviews, test readiness reviews, and post-test reviews.

  • Analyse, document, and present integration and test results to support system verification.

  • Support spacecraft launch campaigns and early mission operations using knowledge gained throughout integration and test activities.

  • Promote safe working practices within laboratory and cleanroom environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

  • 9+ years of experience in spacecraft or complex aerospace system Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT).

  • Demonstrated experience across multiple phases of spacecraft development, including:

    • Design for Test (DFT)

    • Integration

    • Verification

    • Qualification

    • Launch Campaigns

    • Operational Mission Support

  • Experience in systems engineering, requirements management, integration, and verification.

  • Experience developing and supporting Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE).

  • Strong understanding of spacecraft integration processes and system-level verification.

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or similar automation tools.

  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience testing RF communication systems.

  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC testing, compliance, and mitigation.

  • Experience with environmental testing, including vibration, thermal vacuum, acoustic, and shock testing.

  • Familiarity with spacecraft integration software and operational tools such as COSMOS and Grafana.

  • Previous experience within the space, satellite, aerospace, or defence sectors.

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary AIT teams and providing technical mentorship.
