This fast-growing company specialises in the design, development, integration, and operation of advanced satellite platforms, delivering cutting-edge technologies that support the next generation of space exploration and Earth Observation missions.

With a fully integrated, end-to-end approach spanning concept development through to qualification and in-orbit operations, they are redefining how agile, high-performance space missions are delivered.

As part of their continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and driven Head of Electronics to lead a talented Electronics team responsible for developing space-qualified electronic systems across a portfolio of innovative satellite programmes.

This is a strategic leadership role that combines technical excellence with people leadership, offering the opportunity to shape the future direction of onboard electronics while mentoring a high-performing engineering team. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams across Systems Engineering, Software, Mechanical, AIT, Quality, and Operations to deliver reliable, high-performance electronics from concept through to qualification and flight.

The Role

As Head of Electronics, you will provide technical and functional leadership for the Electronics Unit, overseeing the design, development, verification, and qualification of onboard electronic systems while driving innovation and engineering excellence across multiple spacecraft programmes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Defining the technical roadmap and architecture for onboard electronic systems, including power, control, data handling, and payload electronics
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing Electronics team, fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement
  • Planning, prioritising, and coordinating electronics activities across multiple programmes to ensure successful project delivery
  • Overseeing the design, development, verification, and qualification of space-grade electronic hardware
  • Managing technical relationships with suppliers, including make-or-buy decisions and external design reviews
  • Collaborating with Systems Engineering to ensure robust requirements management, interface definition, and system integration
  • Supporting Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT) activities, including functional testing, environmental qualification, and technical troubleshooting
  • Providing technical leadership during bid and proposal activities, including development planning, cost estimation, and technical risk assessment
  • Ensuring high standards of technical documentation, configuration management, and compliance with quality processes
  • Driving innovation, standardisation, and the reuse of electronic architectures and design solutions across future spacecraft programmes

Your Background

  • Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline (PhD advantageous)
  • Significant experience designing and developing complex electronic systems
  • Previous experience in technical leadership, engineering management, or leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, international engineering environments
  • Professional working proficiency in English

Key Skills & Expertise

  • Strong understanding of the complete electronic hardware development lifecycle, from concept and design through verification, qualification, and delivery
  • Experience developing high-reliability electronic systems for the space sector or other safety-critical industries
  • Technical expertise in onboard electronics, including power systems, control electronics, data handling, and payload electronics
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing multiple concurrent development activities
  • Strong systems engineering awareness, including requirements management, interface definition, and hardware integration
  • Experience working with suppliers, technical reviews, and make-or-buy decisions
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of quality assurance, configuration management, and engineering best practices

Deisrable Experience

  • Previous experience within the space, aerospace, defence, automotive, medical device, or another highly regulated engineering environment
  • Experience supporting spacecraft Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT), environmental testing, and qualification campaigns
  • Involvement in proposal development, technical bidding, and programme planning
  • Passion for driving innovation, technology strategy, and engineering process improvement
  • Experience developing reusable electronic architectures for future spacecraft programmes
