Spacecraft Lead Electrical Engineer

Location: Hawthorne, California, United States

Employment Type: Full-Time | On-Site

Package: $130K – $180K Base + Equity + Benefits + Flexible PTO

Are you an electrical engineer ready to take ownership of hardware that will power the next era of lunar and Martian exploration? Want to design electronics that go from rapid prototypes to space-ready systems?

On offer is the opportunity to join a high-growth startup developing a full-stack lunar propellant production system, from excavation to refueling landing craft. You’ll lead the design, manufacture, and testing of all electronic devices across the product line, driving down costs and enabling hardware to thrive in extreme environments.

Join a team at the forefront of industrializing space. You’ll define system requirements, prototype electronics for power, motion, and communications, and ensure hardware is qualified for space applications.

This position would suit an electrical engineer with strong leadership ability, hands-on PCB experience, and a passion for building hardware that supports humanity’s path to becoming a multi-planet species.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the design, prototyping, and testing of PCBAs for motion control, power management, and communications.

* Define and justify system requirements, conducting trade studies and documenting decisions.

* Drive projects from concept through manufacturing, assembly, and rapid test cycles.

* Interface with mechanical teams to ensure seamless hardware integration and manufacturability.

* Establish qualification and acceptance test criteria in line with aerospace standards (e.g., NASA SMC-S-016).

* Build and mentor a fast, coordinated electrical engineering team.

* Support test campaigns with custom harnesses, fixtures, and support hardware.

Essential Skills and Experience

* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

* 2+ years of experience designing, building, and debugging PCBAs.

* Proven ability to take hardware from prototype through production.

* Strong leadership qualities with the capability to coordinate a high-performing team.

* Hands-on experience with electronic systems integration and testing.

* Must meet ITAR/EAR requirements (U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee)
