Senior Spacecraft Avionics Engineer
Location: Los Angeles, California, United States
Employment Type: Full-Time | On-Site
Package: Competitive Salary + Equity + Benefits + Flexible PTO

Are you a Senior Electrical Engineer with a passion for spacecraft avionics, looking to take ownership of high-impact engineering projects in a fast-growing space startup?

On offer is the opportunity to join a team redefining satellite bus design using advanced automation and computational methods. You’ll play a key role in the design, development, and testing of avionics systems, powering the next generation of custom-built satellite platforms.

Join a company driven by first-principles engineering and innovation. You’ll contribute to the delivery of high-performance spacecraft with speed, precision, and reliability, and help shape the tools that automate their creation.

This position would suit a multidisciplinary electrical engineer looking to lead full-system development, mentor junior talent, and push the boundaries of satellite design workflows.

Key Responsibilities:
* Take ownership of the end-to-end development of avionics subsystems, including PCB layouts, cable harnessing, and spacecraft electrical architecture.
* Oversee RF system integration and validation, managing the setup and testing of radios, emulators, and ground station interfaces.
* Drive the development and implementation of automated design and simulation tools to streamline electrical engineering workflows.
* Build and manage detailed power budgets and oversee the configuration of communication protocols for mission-specific requirements.
* Diagnose and troubleshoot complex avionics challenges spanning hardware, software, and embedded systems.
* Lead efforts to maintain regulatory compliance and uphold best practices in testing, documentation, and design assurance.
* Create thorough design documentation and analyze test results to inform performance enhancements.

Qualifications:
* Degree in engineering, physics, or a related technical field; advanced degrees are a plus.
* Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in spacecraft or aerospace avionics development.
* Strong background in circuit board and harness design, along with full-system electrical integration.
* Solid understanding of power systems, RF communications, and protocol stack configuration in satellite applications.
* Proficiency in software development using C, C++, or Python, with demonstrable project contributions.
* Familiarity with cleanroom procedures and ESD handling standards.
* Comfortable working in fast-paced environments and contributing to cross-functional engineering teams.
