About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned and results-driven Project Manager to join our New Space client team in London. This is a full-time, permanent role, focused on end-to-end project delivery and revenue generation within the space sector. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in securing and managing government and industry grants, ensuring timely, compliant execution of funded projects.
You will lead complex, cross-functional projects in areas including satellite systems, space missions, and earth observation, working closely with engineering, finance, and commercial teams. This role requires a disciplined, traditional project manager who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and acquire grant opportunities from public and private sources (e.g., UKSA, ESA, Innovate UK, Horizon Europe).
- Lead project planning, delivery, and reporting from initiation to close, aligning with PRINCE2, Agile, and hybrid methodologies.
- Oversee grant management, including tracking budgets, timesheets, charging, and ensuring compliance with funder requirements.
- Act as the main point of contact for grant authorities, producing detailed status reports and audits.
- Drive accountability across engineering and project teams, ensuring clear responsibilities, timely delivery, and proactive issue resolution to maintain project momentum.
- Collaborate with business development and finance to align project execution with revenue goals.
- Provide strategic input into project and portfolio planning, ensuring business goals and grant obligations are met.
- Champion best practices in project governance and delivery within a technically demanding environment.
- Serve as a hands-on leader, proactively solving challenges and keeping projects on track.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of project management experience within the space industry, particularly in satellite systems, mission design, or earth observation.
- Proven track record of successfully leading cross-functional technical projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success in securing and managing grant-funded projects.
- In-depth knowledge of project methodologies, including PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum, and hybrid approaches.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, particularly in budgeting, compliance, and ROI tracking.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills; confident in leadership and stakeholder engagement.
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum); ideally in Engineering, Aerospace, Physics, or related technical field.
- Right to work in the UK; willing and able to work onsite in London full time.
