Introduction

A leading global aerospace organisation is seeking an Electronics Production & Test Engineer to support the development and manufacturing of next-generation flight hardware. This is a hands-on technical role where you’ll help turn advanced electronic designs into reliable, scalable, production-ready systems. Ideal for UK and European engineers looking to relocate to New Zealand and take on a high-impact position within a fast-growing space hardware environment.

The Opportunity

You’ll join a multidisciplinary engineering team building world-class electronics for spacecraft applications. This is an opportunity to take ownership of production workflows, automated test infrastructure, wire harness assemblies, and hardware/software commissioning. You’ll work at the intersection of design and manufacturing, ensuring every product meets strict performance and quality standards. The employer provides strong onboarding and on-the-job training-an aerospace background is beneficial, but not essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end production process for electronics and wire harnesses
  • Develop, commission, and maintain production hardware and software
  • Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, software, and electromechanical issues
  • Build and maintain end-of-line and environmental acceptance tests
  • Oversee documentation, procedures, and quality standards for internal and external manufacturing
  • Collaborate with contract manufacturers to ensure aerospace-grade output
  • Support technicians with new production processes, tooling, and equipment introduction

Essential Skills and Experience

  • 2+ years in an electronics design, test, or manufacturing engineering role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Experience with ECAD tools (Altium, KiCAD), 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Fusion360, OnShape, or CATIA), and wire harness tools (e.g., RapidHarness)
  • Strong Python programming skills and Git version control experience
  • Proficient with Windows and/or Linux systems; IT/network familiarity is helpful but not essential
  • Understanding of automated electronics test equipment and principles
  • Strong documentation skills and clear technical communication

Eligibility

  • Open to candidates based in the UK and Europe willing to relocate to New Zealand
  • Must be eligible for a New Zealand work visa
