Junior Payload System Engineer

Toulouse, France

Full-time | Start date: As soon as possible

Eligibility: Applicants must hold citizenship from a European Union or NATO member country (excluding the USA).

Our client – an innovative NewSpace company, is looking for a Junior Payload Engineer to work within their embedded software and hardware integration team.

As a Junior Payload Engineer, you will contribute to the integration, validation, and support of space payloads.

You will collaborate with multiple teams to:

  • Apply your technical skills across a wide range of activities, from developing ground support equipment to running product validation procedures,
  • Design, specify, implement, and execute integration and functional verification tests for various software products, including those linked to embedded systems,
  • Advise, train, and support clients in using the company’s tools to optimize the performance of their space payloads,
  • Participate in the design, implementation, and validation of payloads destined for space.

The skills we are looking for:

  • Higher education in STEM, with formal training in software development, embedded systems, or space systems engineering,
  • 1-3 years of professional experience with systems in an industrial setting (e.g., trains, cars, robots, rockets), including systems integration (tests, stimulation, emulation, support equipment),
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Java, C, C++, or Rust,
  • Familiarity with space systems through professional, personal, or academic projects.
  • Self-starter with autonomy and willingness to tackle unexpected challenges in a dynamic environment,
  • “Tinkerer” or “maker” mindset for both software and hardware,
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills – this role involves working directly with clients and internal teams.
