Senior Embedded Software Engineer – Space Hardware

Our client, an innovative company in the space technology sector, is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join their team on a Full Time, Permanent Basis. In this role, you will be working on secure hardware management, field bus integration, and custom embedded solutions for high-reliability applications.

The Opportunity:
You will contribute to embedded software development for space systems, working together with their skilled team of engineers, you’ll help define and implement critical software components while adhering to industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop embedded software for on-board data handling, including packet processing, telecommunication protocols, and hardware interfacing.
  • Specify, implement, and test bare-metal embedded software for mission-critical systems.
  • Optimize performance using low-level Linux features in embedded environments.
  • Develop and execute unit, integration, and functional tests to ensure system reliability.

Technical Expertise:

  • Degree in STEM with a background in embedded software development.
  • 3-5 years of industry experience in embedded systems (space, aerospace, automotive, or related high-reliability fields),
  • Proficiency in C and experience or exposure to Rust/ Go/ Ada, or similar.
  • Knowledge of on-board data handling – space industry experience preferred, but experience within aerospace, rail, drones are also relevant.
  • Familiarity with embedded Linux (Yocto, Buildroot).
